3.1 PTU Releases & Patch Notes

This Article will track the 3.1.0 PTU Patch Notes (out of the evocati) UPDATES will go here at the top.

UPDATE 27th MARCHPATCH 3.1.0L

New Features

  • AI pilots interdicting players can now carry interdiction dampening devices.  Those ships must be destroyed before the player can QT away and will be marked.
  • Players will have a HUD indication for quantum suppression.

Feature Updates

  • The character customizer now includes preview icons.
  • Own/Target are now default screens on the Cutlass MFDs.

Bug Fixes

  • The Constellation should now have collision in the tail section and the turrets should no longer have duplicate UI.
  • The Khartu-Al should now have internal atmosphere when in landing mode.
  • The Star Marine HUD should no longer be missing elements.
  • Adjusted scalp color to match hair strands for character customizer.
  • Players should no longer be able to get stuck on top of the Terrapin’s bed.
  • The claw on the Reclaimer now has shields and takes damage.
  • FPS radar should now immediately remove players when they die.

  • The player should no longer be able to fall through the Reclaimer and become permanently locked inside the airlock.
  • Pip reticles should no longer occasionally change to wait and get stuck on the UI.
  • There should no longer be a short delay after reloading or checking mag before the player can sprint.
  • Players should now be able to spawn Dragonflies at the Levski garage.
  • The escape pod room floor of the Reclaimer should no longer be missing collision.
  • The Cutlass should no longer tilt to the side as its flown forward.
  • FPS damage direction indicator should now display correctly in EVA and within ship physics grids.
  • The inner door on the front entrance elevator of the Reclaimer should now open properly upon ship entry.
  • The side airlocks on the Reclaimer should now have open/close audio.
  • It should no longer be possible to get stuck floating at the entrance of the Prospector.
  • The selected ship should now load into the customizer when that option is selected from the game lobby.
  • Reclaimer entrance interactions should now be easier to find from EVA.
  • The Glaive and Scythe should no longer float off of landing pads at spawn.
  • AI chatter should no longer cut off mid-sentence.
  • Star Marine armor sets should no longer duplicate in the player’s inventory at each login.
  • The sniper rifle scope should no longer be attachable to the P8-SC.
  • The Reclaimer cargo hold should now have atmosphere and gravity.
  • Available/canceled beacons should now refresh automatically.
  • Vehicles spawned into the hangar should no longer be inside of the hangar floor.

Technical

NOTE: If Star Citizen “hangs”, please wait at least 2 minutes for the crash handler to detect. A hang is when the Star Citizen window whites out and you see the windows spin wheel indicating the program is not responding. In addition, all players start with a service beacon rating of 0, please set the initial requests to “any”.

UPDATE 26th MARCHPATCH 3.1.0j

The Patch is a (stability patch test).

The test group has been widened now beyond evocati, subs and concierge so that more backers are able to play too. This is 5-6k more players that have contributed to the Issue Council or played in lots of PTU build previously.

Testing Focus

This patch is an early release to deliberately investigate server stability and slow down issues. The team has an idea of what may be causing the issues you all observed over the weekend, but to test that we need to experiment with server settings in an environment with frequent player activity. Login, attempt to connect, play in the PU has normal for now. We will fill in the notes as we go, so check back here often if you are curious about changes.

Want to help? Hop on and hammer the servers! They need as many players on as possible in the PU over the next few hours. As always, your help is very much appreciated.

Feature Updates Universe

  • Expanded several of the environmental missions.

Ships and Vehicles

  • Increased the despawn time to allow players more time to get into the Reclaimer and take off.

Bug Fixes

  • The salvage room of the Reclaimer should now have alert/damage state audio.
  • The front lift of the Reclaimer should now have audio.
  • The Avengers should no longer be missing their HUD.
  • The MFDs should now work properly on the Gladiator.
  • FPS weapons should now properly have their sights attached when equipped through the PMA.

UPDATE 24th MARCH – PATCH 3.1.0i

New Known Issues:

  • All players start with a service beacon rating of 0. So set the rating requirement to “any” when requesting a beacon.

They have Re-implemented Service Beacons

To Create a beacon

Locate “Create Beacon” on the far right of the Contract Manager of the MobiGlas.

Select a “Beacon Type” and subsequent options.

  • Personal Transport: Destination, reputation requirements, payment offered.
  • Combat Assistance: Reputation requirements, payment offered.

Created beacons can be viewed under the “Personal” tab under the “Beacons” group.

Created beacons can be canceled at anytime.

Accepting a beacon

Beacons can be found under the “Beacons” group of the “General” tab of the Contract Manager.

Beacons will display beacon type, initiator’s name, and payment offered.

Once accepted, you can cancel/withdraw from the contract at anytime.

Completing a beacon

Completed beacons will automatically move to the “History” tab.

Transport beacons will automatically be completed based on the transport destination.

Upon completion or cancellation, players can “rate” the other party (1 to 5).

Rating defaults to 3 if a player fails to rate before the time expires.

Feature Updates

Universe

  • Environmental missions have been updated with new features and functionality.

UI

  • Various polish and updates to the VMA/PMA for better visuals and distinction.

Ships and Vehicles

  • Lengthened the insurance timer on the Reclaimer to be appropriate to its size.
  • Lightened the interior lighting of the Razor.
  • Temporarily slaved front remote turrets of Reclaimer to pilot and claw operator seat. Disabled rear remote turrets until the Remote Turret mechanic is complete.
  • Increased the overload damage of the distortion scatterguns to increase their impact on ship systems.

Arena Commander

  • AI pilots should be less likely to run into the boundary in Arena Commander.
  • Increased the brightness of the Dying Star map.
  • Rebalancing ammo drops around increased ammo box counts.
  • Added new AI skill profiles, altered elite waves to increase difficulty, and altered pirate ship loadouts in Pirate Swarm.
  • Replaced a Constellation on wave 8 of pirate swarm with a Cutlass.

Bug Fixes

  • aUEC should now be properly withdrawn after repairing at CryAstro.
  • Landing gear animations should now play properly for those not piloting the ship.
  • Fix for missing cockpit geometry in the Vanguard.
  • Missiles that expire should now have their HUD alerts vanish properly.
  • Fix for issues with Nox landed states. Should fix being stuck in PRE/HOV and spawning on its side.
  • Removed portmod on vehicles again.
  • Targeted AI ships should retain their target bracket consistently.
  • Missing person missions should no longer be abandoned immediately after accepting.
  • Moved the flight HUD on the reclaimer down and scaled it up slightly.

  • Corpses should no longer be shown as enemies on FPS radar.

  • The MobiGlas should now appear correctly when used from the pilot or support seat in the Terrapin.
  • Respawning in Arena Commander in the Terrapin should no longer play the pilot seat animation.
  • One of the facial skin tones on the character customizer should no longer mismatch the body tone.
  • The player should have an easier time interacting with the bed of the Terrapin.
  • The pilot and copilot seats of the Reliant should now have exit prompts.
  • The player’s view should no longer be looking away from the logout prompts in any ship with a bed.
  • There should no longer be invisible collision components when switching landing states in the Reliant.

UPDATE 22nd March 2018 – PTU PATCH 3.1.0H & The Reclaimer

New Known Issues:

  • Server stability might still be an issue, but we need to gather data on the cause by releasing it to a wider environment and place the servers under stress. If the state is bad we will again roll back to the prior patch.
  • The Aegis Reclaimer is missing its HUD.

Testing Focus

  • Arena Commander – Combat in swarm and multiplayer Arena Commander with focus on the behavior of ESP and new ship weapons. Racing: Razor against/with other racing ships.
  • Universe: Reclaimer and Terrapin testing. Cyclone testing.

  • Wingmen should no longer spawn after every wave in single player swarm modes.
  • Multiple players should now be able to accept a bounty mission.
  • Dust and particles kicked up off of planetary surfaces should now be effected by wind and gravity.
  • Oxygen should now refill correctly in the cockpit of the Razor.
  • If the player stays at the ASOP after making an insurance claim, the ship should now correctly be available once the timer reaches 0.
  • The ASOP terminals should now correctly display the cost of expediting insurance claims.
  • Players should no longer be teleported into space if a vehicle is removed by ATC while they are exiting.
  • The Razor landing gear should now articulate properly.

Technical

UPDATE 21st March 2018 – PTU PATCH 3.1.0G & Rollback

A bit of a hit and miss last night with the latest 3.1.0g PTU patch. It was released and then had to be rolled back due to a few bugs including some form of rendering issue which was causing stretching textures and rouge polygons.
But let’s go over the patch notes for the patch as it’s likely to get to us again later today with those bug fixes.

  • They found an issue with the Cutlass and Cyclone that forced us to disable both for this patch.
  • IFCS fixes are still pending.

Feature Updates General

  • Darkened and re-tuned the contrast of the main menu and replaced loading animation.

Ships & Vehicles

  • Reduced the hardpoint sizes on the 350r back to 2x size 2 and 1x size 3.
  • Minor update to Cyclone UI panels.

Arena Commander

  • Changed elite wave audio to match every 5th wave of pirate swarm, altered the health value of the Glaive to make it more challenging to kill, altered pirate Cutlass loadout, reduced the amount of time a repair tool stays around.

The focus shifted slightly or at least was more clearly defined to:
Combat in swarm and multiplayer Arena Commander with focus on the behavior of ESP and new ship weapons.
Racing in AC with the Razor and other racing ships, plus some updated racing changes.


MARCH 19th 2018 – STAR CITIZEN PTU 3.1 INITIAL WIDER PTU
Star Citizen PTU Alpha 3.1.0f was the first patch to come to the wider PTU on 19th March 2018 Open to Evocati, RSI Subscribers and Concierge.

Through these patches they are adding more and more of the 3.1 Roadmap content, for example the Reclaimer and Terrapin are not included in this version BUT they will be in within the next few days.
Also each PTU will typically have a focus and The is various Focuses with this particular patch are:
Testing the behavior of ESP in Arena Commander in swarm modes and multiplayer Arena Commander Combat (Basically aiming, firing and general ship Combat)
Racing: Razor and other racing ship, plus some updated racing changes.
On the PU side: Cyclone testing.

General Content

  • Added a logout timer when logging out in range of other players.
  • Implemented the Character Customizer.
  • – Players will be required to create a character when attempting to access the “Universe” menu.
  • – Available to customize: Head, eye color, hairstyle, hair color, and skin tone.
  • – Once selections are made, players can “accept” or “revert” back to default.
  • – After a custom character is created, that character will be used for all game modes.
  • – Character’s can be changed after being accepted via the “Character Customization” tab on the “Universe” menu.

Universe

  • Safe/persistent logout locations: Ship beds, major stations (Levski, GrimHex, Port Olisar). Note: These logout locations should persist between sessions.
  • Added the ability to earn virtue reputation for killing NPC pirates.

Ships & Vehicles

  • Added: Tumbril Cyclone.
  • Added: MISC Razor.
  • Added: Nox Kue
  • Added: PRAR Distortion Scattergun including size 4(Salvation), size 5(Absolution), size 6(Condemnation).

User Interface

  • Added visual change to better indicate when the player is in “focus mode” of interaction mode.
  • Replaced old combat markers with new 3D markers including target brackets, hit indication, and missile locks.
  • Added outline and further polish to target/self visor screens including additional hit effects for shields and hull areas.
  • Added an additional MFD screen to customize the view angles of the target/self visor screens.

Feature Updates General

  • Removed the port modification system from all vehicles.
  • There is now an interaction trigger to exit a usable (seat, stool, ect.).
  • Reduced the sideways sway of the camera during breathing.
  • Minor adjustments to options menu text to increase readability.
  • Updates to AI behavior relating to accuracy variability and missile usage, along with bug fixes.

Universe

  • Expanded the interactable seating in GrimHex.
  • Increased the brightness of the interaction highlight on GrimHex’s elevator buttons.
  • Lock on interactions during quantum travel to prevent passengers from climbing out mid-travel.
  • Improved GrimHex audio ambience.
  • Expanded seating usables and updated some interaction points in Port Olisar.
  • Lowered the virtue cost for ramming and removed the virtue pentalyt for illegal parking.
  • Updated lighting within Levski hangars.
  • Updated the various shopkeepers with additional performance capture and dialogue.
  • Updated surface textures and topography of Crusader’s moons.
  • Expanded the “00” landing pad at Port Olisar to accomodate the Reclaimer.
  • Additional environmental missions added.

Missions

  • Polish to admin NPC animations.
  • When first opening the MobiGlas the contract maanger should now display the first mission.
  • When accepting a mission, the MobiGlas contract manager automatically displays that missions objectives.
  • Updated missions with additional dialogue.
  • Reduced the virtue penalty for criminal missions and added virtue reward for killing criminal players.

Ships & Vehicles

  • Updated glass shader on MFDs for the following ships: Vanguard, Cutlass, Prospector, 85x, Hornet F7C, Nox, Dragonfly, 300 series, M50, Prospector, Gladius.
  • Increased the power draw of the EMP when charging, increased the cooldown after use, lowered distortion damage.
  • Added new distortion values to all ship items capable of taking that kind of damage.
  • Increased the self-destruct timer length on ships that require multiple interactions to exit.
  • Increased the EM and IR signatures on countermeasures altered ship countermeasure sizes and loadouts to better reflect their relative signatures.
  • Reduces shield health, updates shields to operate as independent faces for regen, increased setback, lower regen and regen acceleration.
  • Adjusted countermeasure signal decay to reduce the need to spam CMs to divert missiles.
  • 300 series: Increased the hardpoint size of all gun mounts: 325A: Nose S4, wing S3. Other 300 series: All mounts S3.  Updated fuel usage and retuned atmospheric flight.
  • Decreased the spread on the Sawbuck repeaters.

Cargo and Trading

  • Kiosks should now display first two digits after decimal place under buy/sell price.
  • Altered the despawn timer on cargo so it will persist for longer.
  • Various polish to box carry animations and placing.
  • Added a holo effect to held items when attemtping to “place” them so players aren’t visually blocked by the held item. Added a “quick place” mechanic where you can hold LMB to start placing (don’t need to select the place interaction).

Arena Commander

  • Removed ejection ability from multiplayer modes.
  • Allowed the Prospector to be selected in race modes.
  • Players will now periodically gain lives during swarm modes.
