Star Citizen Alpha 3.15.0 is now in the 2nd Wave of the PTU

Star Citizen Alpha 3.15.0 is now in the 2nd Wave of the PTU which means some of the more active issue council bug reporters have been added to the testing pool of players BUT it looks likely that the Patch will go to Open PTU by the end of the week.

Feature Updates Star Citizen Patch 3.15.0o
We have just had a 3.15.0o Patch released that solved a lot of issues that I had with the last couple of updates, so let’s jump in and talk about those patch notes and state of the PTU.

There has been some minor improvements to inventory with the ability to unselect a quick filter by clicking it again. The category filter state is kept when changing the custom filters so they match. There is a loot option when interacting with downed player backpacks. There’s a new contextual option to Equip All from stack to available item ports.

The inventory is uneligent as a solution currently BUT is a magnitude more functional and improved compared to what we had at the start of the PTU phase for 3.15. It’s much more responsive and less laggy / stuttery as well as being a lot more ergonomic by letting players drag items more easily to attachment points… all the little updates in each PTU patch are adding up HOWEVER it really needs a better looking skin and a lot more work really.

Medical Mechanics have seen some changes too. There is a New Wear Damage threshold, which once reached, will have a % chance to trigger the next injury severity which increases as the wear damage approaches the 100% threshold with a cooldown on how frequently this can trigger.

They added a toggle control widget on the curelife medical tool with better click feedback, and an added icon click animation. For healing rescue beacons they update the HUD displays for Help being on the way (when the mission is accepted) and Rescue aborted – awaiting response to new beacon (when the mission was abandoned). This will display updates to Revival service beacon acceptance status & auto-trigger a subsequent beacon if the first is abandoned. Players will now be considered as fully killed if they disconnect from a server while in a downed state.

If you have tried to do medical rescue gameplay and the player disconnects or respawns before you reach him you’ll know the how annoying that can be… I WAS GOING TO SAVE YOU… but this should actually inform them that help is genuinely on the way and encourage them to stay!

That said Medical beacon Missions still do not complete mission/payment when player is brought back from incapacitation but it’s still fun to save them.

The Arena Commander Map Broken Moon has received further polish, Removing volumetric clouds to help increase performance. The Redout effect when reaching the edge of the playable area will now start more subtly and increase in severity the longer the player is out of bounds.

The Initial Bounty Hunter missions are now Shareable which is good as they made the Bunker Missions shareable in the last patch as well.

There has also been a fix for the unresponsive NPCs at bunker missions, so you can now actually enjoy those!

There have been a lot of much needed bug fixes.

  • A major issue causing players to get a 20018 error or infinite loading after logging out in a ship bed or crashing
  • Players ships should no longer be thrown into an ‘unknown’ state if they leave a server manually or 30k while they have their ship out on a landing pad
  • The 400i’s fuel intakes should no longer be missing
  • Cutlass Black door ramp should now function correctly
  • New Babbage should no longer have missing dome roofs
  • Fixed an issue causing ship UI to appear to be very bright and sometimes cause the mobiGlas and starmap to be unreadable
  • Fixed an issue causing inventory items to block inventory filter button interaction when partially overlapping the top
  • Items on the far right of the inventory should no longer have the information panel cut off outside the screen when right clicking on them
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Bartenders to never interact with players
  • Fixed an issue causing the weapon Capacitor / ammunition count UI to sometimes disappear after cycling on and off 3rd person camera in ships
  • Ships claimed via insurance should now be correctly restored to the VMA for loadout editing without having to retrieve and store the ship again
  • Fixed an issue causing picked up items to be invisible when 2 players try to loot the same item from a corpse at the same time
  • As I said earlier they fixed an issue causing AI to not react to players and get stuck in a nonreactive state in UGF missions
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to get trapped inside spawn closets
  • Delivery boxes can now be placed in delivery lockers using the place function on the box
  • Mining Deposits and Harvestables should no longer be able to be obstructed by Rocks and other Geometry
  • Backpack space should now be depleted correctly when minerals are sold at the mining kiosks
  • Walking frames in hospitals should no longer be missing inner through options to allow players to push them around
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to buy commodities to ships that were not at their current location… now that’s a trade exploit.
  • Fixed 6 Client & 8 Server crashes

There are still a variety of Known Issues. Locations that don’t have ground vehicle spawns like Area18 and Orison aren’t great places to have your initial spawn location as that’s where all your ships and vehicles are delivered meaning you can’t currently get them off planet easily. Hopefully this will be solved in the Live build…

Sometimes after a crash there can be an infinite loading screen, players need to reload the game to fix that.

Pledge & other Items lost on death are a hot topic… players will now lose all items equipped to their character upon death. These items include items from the pledge store including subscriber items. CI said: We are currently looking into different solutions for this but for 3.15.x be warned that if you die with subscriber items on, you will lose them in game but they will not be removed from your account or pledge store. These will be returned upon new major patches or through an account reset.

  • Items from personal inventory can be inaccessible from local inventory after dying and respawning in the same city
  • The QT UI is not central, causing a confusing misalignment.
  • New Babbage Train may stop and open the doors at a void where players can run out and fall.
  • The Player can have previously equipped items disappear altogether when they exit and load back after editing character.
  • All Actor Status widgets and weapon ammo count UI will be missing after an Actor interacts with or equips a helmet.
  • Selecting the carry prompt on weapons inside inventory equips the weapon instead
  • When equipping items from a loot box in zero-g, equipping torso and arms will cause camera shake.
  • Unable to Select Vehicles on Trade Terminals/Kiosks & a ship in the Refinery Terminal.
  • Weapon projectiles trajectory will not behave correctly when shooting from one zone inside a ship to another outside
  • Heavy Armor Arms can Clip thru some of the mobiGlas Icons.
  • Destroying mission-spawned reinforcement type ships does not always trigger the ongoing ‘Call to Arms’ mission rewards
  • Parts of Area18 cityscape can be seen clipping into the surface of the Spaceport highway
  • Missiles can hit a players ship when they are fired whilst the ship is moving forward.
  • AC Players can spawn facing the wrong way at the start of the match or after dying
  • Announcer audio callout for “Match over. You have won/lost the match” can be heard multiple times at the end of a round
  • Quantum Drive Does Not Engage Consistently… which is still one of my pet woes.
  • Demon Fang Combat Knife asset is missing from the game

Obviously some of those issues do need to be sorted before a LIVE build but most of them are quite minor or avoidable.

Overall the 3.15 patch is really shaping up now and a lot of players and content creators I have talked to are enjoying this patch A LOT.

I am expecting a quick move from 3.15 live to 3.15.1 with additional fixes… as I think we will see that point patch with the IAE at the end of November with the Redeemer and Ares… along with the expo.
