Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.2 State of the Game – ELEVATORS FINALLY FIXED?

Welcome to some more Star Citizen. CI are working on various improvements to the current Alpha 3.17.2 branch as well as the ninetails lockdown & siege of orison event.

Various bugs have plagued the current LIVE build for some players… elevators not working and NPCs not spawning being the 2 most egregious bugs that can occur HOWEVER it’s looking good on the PTU test patch as players are helping smash those bugs especially in the last 2 builds.

CIG Said: This Open PTU for cycle 3.17.2 (so any players can jump in and help) accumulates many hotfixes that we have released onto the LIVE environment over the last week which includes many client and server crash fixes as well as new fixes to elevators not working properly, UGF and Siege of Orison AI spawning and behaviour issues, and party launching issues.

The newly released build also has extra logging for Medical service beacon issues. This should help us track down some issues including the beacon not paying out when completing.

So Saturday 5pm UTC – Siege Of Orison event is running with all those improvements on the PTU. Sunday 5pm UTC we have the NineTails Lockdown being tested there too.

I think it’s going to be a great deal of fun and very helpful to get involved with those.

So what are the updates and changes that they’ve made in the latest PTU patches?

For Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.2w PTU we’ve had:

A Snakepit Racetrack Audio Polish Pass

And Additional balance pass to Combat Assistance Payments and adjusting probabilities of mission difficulties spawn frequency.

  • Fixed an issue where elevators around the PU were blocking entry and use (There is also an additional failsafe that will reset an elevator if it detects them being stuck after about 60 seconds)
  • Fixed an issue causing UGF Missions AI to go missing and block missions from completing
  • Fixed a bug with the Search and Destroy mission where probes destroyed counter reports wrong if you destroy the probes before the mission says you located them
  • Ships should no longer get stored at Klescher upon completion of prison sentence
  • Fixed further issues with party launch not functioning as intended
  • Fixed a cargo hold area of space Derelict Reclaimers that allowed players to clip and see through the hull

More to that there are various Dynamic Event Changes and Bug Fixes

They have made many changes to Siege of Orison mission flow since releasing to LIVE. Some of these changes were hotfixed onto the LIVE environment but many you will see when we run Siege of Orison this weekend on the PTU.

  • You should now see optional objects for the AntiAir that should complete if you Destroy the turret or Disable the islands IFFI
  • Fixed an issue where rewards where not being given for each action
  • Upped the reward for each boss killed
  • Added a reward per AntiAir control regained
  • Players will no longer get a double trespassing crime when the mission is over if you have not left the island (This is now failure to comply)

There are now 4 stages to the end of mission, the 3 original timers on the last one you get the restricted area warning, you then have an extra 15 mins to leave

  • The mission will end for people not in the zone when the final objective is finished
  • If a player leaves the zone the mission will finish for them
  • Anyone in the mission area when the final timer goes will be arrested but before hand i will complete the mission
  • If the transfer succeeds the next run of the mission (without shutting the server down) the hack should no longer be broken
  • When you destroy ships it will now Play the voice line when you hit a certain percentage of ships destroyed
  • If all types of ships are reduced to 0 it should fail that objective (e.g. if you destroy all the starlifters)
  • You shouldn’t hear random dialogue when you are not in the event anymore
  • Added Security AI around the Solanki Shuttle and additional cover
  • Fixed an issue where a boss could spawn with the wrong datapad

The Star Citizen Alpha 3.17.2x PTU patch is incredibly small but still important:

  • Fixed multiple issues causing elevators around the PU to block player entry and use
  • Between both the patches they Fixed 2 Client Crashes & a Backend Service Crash

There are still a whole host of Known Issues that CI are trying to work though.

  • Players may have to restart the game after getting kicked to the main menu from a 30k server crash
  • Elevator Desync Can Cause Missing Floor Collison
  • A ship’s targeting pip may be missing or disappear for some players; they cannot be targeted when this happens
  • Ships floating in the hangar when stored with the engines left on then retrieved again
  • The player character arm can misalign when seated in ships, causing obstruction of HUD and view
  • The Khartu-al spawns on the hangar floor sideways
  • Weapon fire penetrates shields when ships are moving
  • While docked to a Starfarer multiple vehicle types will continuously tilt instead of remaining stationary and snap away from the arm if any movement is attempted
  • The Argo Raft’s elevator controls cannot be interacted with from either deck
  • Headlights on Ares are too dim to notice at reasonable range
  • Medical beacons do not complete mission/payment when player is brought back from incapacitation
  • All weapons are held like a pistol whilst moving in EVA
  • Weapons holster or un-holster unintentionally
  • Items & Gear may disappear between sessions
  • Weapons looted directly equipped from containers/boxes are missing attachments
  • Ships on landing pads end up in “unknown state” for location and have to be reclaimed after the ship is stored or streamed out
  • Turrets around bunkers respawn very quickly, sometimes almost instantaneously

So that’s a lot of bugs that need to be addressed and a lot of them are in the live build and not new to this PTU BUT getting some of those fixed will get the game in a much better state. You can expect that the Siege Of Orison to be running on a schedule again in the live build once these changes go live almost certainly soon.

I’m keen to play a less buggy 3.17.2… I’ve had a great time with the live build BUT getting more players in and just generally more accessibility and improvements in and less chance of problems is obviously better.
