Star Citizen News Update – CIG Open Up About The Cargo Refactor

Welcome to a Star Citizen News Update going over what’s happening this week, CIG are going to be showing off the Cargo Refactor, we have some dev responses, more 2952 IAE info, buy back token schedule and more.

This Week in Star Citizen ending 6th November 2022

Later Wednesday will see October’s PU & SQ42 monthly report.

Thursday, on Inside Star Citizen we’re looking at the current progress of the Cargo Refactor coming online in Alpha 3.18 and revisiting the RaStar tool, discussing how it’s evolved since CitizenCon 2951, and seeing how it’s being used to place new outposts throughout the Stanton and Pyro systems.

Friday on the SC Twitch at 4pm UTC we will have a SCL but we don’t have confirmation of exactly whats going on but these newly updated formats are pretty development info heavy.

A Star Citizen Dev Gozer-CIG posted on Spectrum Halloween Greetings

Greetings Everyone.

Later this week you should be getting your first details about the Cargo Refactor coming in 3.18 (via ISC). I’m sure there will be many questions about it so before that happens I wanted to start a thread and introduce myself, since probably one of the first will be “Who is the Griffis guy and where did he come from?”

Well that’s me, and I am the new Lead Designer for USPU. I joined the team in August 2022 in the Austin Studio. If there are any long time players of STO reading this you probably recognize the forum handle, I am in fact the same Gozer

I’ve been a Star Citizen backer since the original Kickstarter and a pretty regular player for the last year or so.

I will be heading the Design Team for USPU and working with other CIG teams in order to deliver new systems, as well as new player facing content like missions and events that use those systems. It would basically be a similar structure to EUPU and the MFT in the UK, only this will be here in the US (Austin, LA).

When I started in August work was already well underway for physicalized cargo T0. Once you get to watch the ISC we can have a chat about what T0 brings as well as what it actually doesn’t. I’m sure you have heard this before, but T0 is just the “framework”, but there has been a great deal of work just to get this part functional and into a state where we can move on to the more exciting stuff, the design for the next step is basically complete and ready to start on and once we get T0 out the door to you.

Anyhow, that’s it for the moment, but I will be back once you have a chance to watch the update later this week.

Why not show shields in value and not percent of total amount?

As it’s bit convoluted right now.

CIGs YogiKlatt Responded:

It’s just what we decided back then with the stuff we had available. The shield display is based on the legacy MFD tech which we cannot change … we actually tried to simply hide that shield face number and only use the display itself but it didn’t work because the legacy flash files are very hard to access and modify. So we left it in the state where we thought it was functional enough. Going forward we will not invest any more time into the legacy shield MFDs. The new displays are currently in the works and quite a lot on them changed anyways.

Sub Promotions & Flight Suits

Boom, thats it for today’s news. We are keenly awaiting more info on Alpha 3.18, we know it’s planned for a live build early December BUT I am hoping we see a wave 1 PTU later November…
