Star Citizen 3.18 Alpha IS BURSTING

Hello & Welcome to some more Star Citizen, the 2952 IAE is next week. We have Alpha 3.18 coming shortly after that with ever expanding features we are going to take a look at some of it’s new race tracks, new outposts, and for 4.0 the new space stations there. As well as the Ship Showdown Skins and Flair for this years IAE show.

Inside Star Citizen: Race Chase

There are some new outposts they have been able to slip into Alpha 3.18.

This expands the 5 derelict outposts that we had on microtech to 35 across the Verse. 10 on microTech, 10 on Hurston, and then 1-6 on various moons.

There are various lootables and delivery missions as well as reasons to explore.

There are some AI updates here and they are trying to make sure they are functional and able to navigate these new areas.

Alpha 3.18 is still planned to have a live release by mid December and the extra time on it has allowed CIG to get some more features in there.

They’ve been able to flesh out some racetracks and their POIs a bit better in game and evolving some of the locations that the community were using around the game for various races.

There is a Space Race Track around Yela (from the community Grim Prospects).

It’s in a asteroid field adjacent to GrimHex. There are some cool structures and debris as part of the track.

Euterpe has a planetside ship race track called Icebreaker. It’s a little microTech research station. There are various vantage points and landing areas around here for an audience.

There is another ship race track on the outskirts of Area 18.

Beyond all that there are another 3 Race Tracks that are coming to Alpha 3.18.

Now even if you aren’t into racing. These updates are awesome as they represent new POI, more assets, deeper interaction and perhaps other careers that are affected by racing… or gambling…

Remember there is also a Ground Race Track with the GreyCat PTV one at the Vision Center at Orison, Crusader.

AND there was a new Feature that CI had added to 3.18 that ties a lot of this together or at least expands out gameplay.

Time Trial Race Missions are being added throughout the Stanton System. Players will be able to test their skills versus set times, earning rewards based on performance and even unlocking more tracks as they progress.

There are new Space Stations coming in Alpha 4.0 with Pyro.

These are hugely different from the stations in the Stanton System.

They are lawless and you can draw you weapons to pew pew everything in sight if you wanted. They have been refining and polishing these areas as much as possible with FPS combat in mind.

There are environment / exploration puzzles too.

These stations house the various factions of Pyro…

Dangerous landing zones, that are also filled with mission opportunities sounds awesome to me.

Drake are running the IAE 2952 this year… we’ve got a red & grey colour scheme for the halls. The floor layouts and lighting has changed too.

The 2952 IAE starts next week, November 18th at 4pm to be precise. And it starts with some big news from Drake and the Corsair being flyable too.

Then there is 12 days of ship sales with new and limited ships too.

A FreeFly so anyone can try SC for free.

An ExpoHall full of ships at microTech to go visit where each day a new manufacturer will be showing there ships.

We will also have some ship updates and cool shorts produced by CI throughout.

Ship Showdown 2952 – Best in Show Prizes

Earlier this year the:

  • Anvil Carrack
  • Anvil Pisces
  • Crusader Mercury Star Runner
  • RSI Scorpius

Were the top 4 in the Ship Showdown. If you have one of these fine vessels in your web-hangar, you’ll receive their respective 2952 Best in Show paint at the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo this year, for free.

In addition to the Best in Show Paint, you’ll also get an exclusive in-game challenge coin item for each of our top four ships that you have in your hangar.

Plus, to celebrate this year’s ultimate champion, all backers will receive TWO in-game ship models of the Anvil Carrack (of two different sizes) to celebrate the ultimate champion of Ship Showdown, along with a fifth Ship-Showdown themed challenge coin. You’ll receive the ship models even if you don’t have a Carrack.

All of these items will be distributed in waves, starting on Best In Show at IAE 2952, on November 27th. This process can take some time, so don’t worry if you don’t see these items in your hangar right away. As a reminder, prize eligibility requires that the vehicle be in your web-hangar – having them in your Buyback List will not grant you the Best in Show items.

Once you see them in your web-hangars, you’ll be able to use them right away in Alpha 3.17.4!
