Star Citizen February Update – Alpha 3.18 Is Wave 2 – 3.19 Major Features – What’s Coming Up?!

It’s February 2023 and we are here with a Star Citizen Update… going over what you can expect during the month, new events, corarmor, our content, what’s happening with 3.18, and a load of exciting bits and pieces!

February… the biggest thing is Alpha 3.18…

Star Citizen Alpha 3.18 Is Now Wave 2… this expands out the test group on the PTU and means that CI have completed their work on Shard Isolation, giving each shard their own data pipeline.

Wave 2 however isn’t a big group of people at least as far as I am aware.


  • Active Participation Wave ALSO KNOWN AS WAVE 2: All members of the previous waves plus any players that have been very active and involved on the Issue Council, plus players with the highest amount of playtime across all game modes. 

I believe that this signifies that 3.18 should be coming shortly to Open PTU…

My track record on predicting this is pretty terrible… with my expectation of 3.18 by the end of December.

There is another requisite that there aren’t any major bugs found in that wave 2 build… that said there are a couple of known issues that CI are going to want to fix before Open PTU… to me it looks like they are going to be done with then by the end of the week… but that is just my expectation.

So what are the current KNOWN ISSUES for Alpha 3.18…

  • The P52/72 docked to the Connie lacks interaction prompts to enter it.
  • Salvage RMC canisters will not attach to a multitool.
  • Equipped gear can be lost when player dies in armistice zone
  • Scanning is not showing advanced statistics and details
  • Elevators and Trams are “Jittery” during transit of Player Character
  • Some ships can’t be fully 
  • The AI will not respawn for Missions at settlements & Reinforcements that do not leave their ship will be counted towards the hostiles remaining still.
  • Valkyrie bottom turret locks and makes player invisible
  • There are various ships / wrecks that can’t be fully salvaged.
  • Quantum Interdicting does not mark that ship a hostile. 
  • Destroyed ship thrusters will still not function after being repaired
  • Laden Hercules C2s landed at Area 18 results in Slow Framerates or Crashes
  • Criminals respawn in prison with weapons and armor after dying.
  • Cargo is invisible in various ships

CI are also trying to solve some common server crashes as well as a Ship Spawning Issue that has all the pads thinking they are full. You can expect a hotfix for this ASAP if it’s not already deployed.

So what’s being tested at the moment? Well it’s focused on a few things beyond general bug capture and optimization with CI encouraging players to try and out give feedback on:

  • Platform Assault on Orison
  • Security Post Kareah Reactivation
  • Courier Delivery Missions Update
  • Sandbox Prison Activities
  • Drake Vulture
  • Sand Caves
  • Daymar Crash Site
  • Stanton Racetrack Locations
  • Greycat PTV Race Track
  • New Rivers (40 New Rivers on Hurston and microTech)
  • Additional Derelict Outposts
  • Restricted Areas v3
  • Arena Commander Quality of Life Updates

But also the addition of a load more ships & vehicles to the in game shops… pretty much everything flyable (that’s not a promo) is available to buy in game other than the Vulture.
